University of Denver
Denver, Colorado, United States
Dr. Jennifer Greenfield is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean for Doctoral Education in the Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) at the University of Denver (DU). Her research focuses on the intersections of health and wealth disparities across the life course, especially through the mechanism of family care work. Through her research, Dr. Greenfield seeks to identify and test policies that best support families as they balance work and caregiving. Policy supports such as paid family leave, minimum wage policy, and access to health insurance are a major focus of her work. She has completed commissioned policy analysis projects for the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, as well as interdisciplinary research with research partners at the University of Colorado—Anschutz Campus and the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging at DU. She frequently speaks on these topics through legislative testimony, guest commentaries, and media interviews. In addition to this primary area of scholarship, Dr. Greenfield has also studied the benefits of mentored training programs for PhD students and has written on the role of public-facing dissemination as a component of social work scholarship—topics that have also been at the forefront of her work with the GSSW PhD program over the last 8 years. Dr. Greenfield teaches several policy-focused courses, including Health Care Policy, Aging Policy, and Mental Health and Health Care Policy at the Masters level, and Social Policy Analysis and Development in both the Masters and doctoral programs. Dr. Greenfield received her PhD in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis in 2013 and her MSW from Saint Louis University in 2008. She joined the GSSW faculty in 2013.
