Diana is an Assistant Professor at Brock University, Department of Nursing. She had her Ph.D. from the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto where her study focused on preparing nursing students to care for older adults in Ghana. Diana examined the association between knowledge and attitudes on nursing students’ self-efficacy in caring for older adults. She also explored stakeholders’ views about nursing students’ self-efficacy in caring for older adults and how these stakeholder views influence gerontological nursing education and practice in Ghana. Her research interests include gerontological nursing education, workforce development, and Health disparities in caring for black older adults with dementia and their family caregivers. Diana seeks to conduct further research to inform policies and advance culturally competent and inclusive education, equipping nursing students, nurses, and family caregivers with the required expertise and skills to improve and provide adequate health and social care for black older adults in Canada.
She has a strong background in mixed method, quantitative and advanced qualitative research and has submitted and published in peer-reviewed international journals. Diana has received several awards and grants, including the Bluma Appel Community Trust Fellowship, which was awarded for demonstrating exemplary promise in the advancement of nursing research and teaching support and the Bertha Rosenstadt Doctoral Research Dissertation Grant, which supports students in good standing in the Ph.D. program, who are making timely progress towards their degrees. Diana also completed a one-year fellowship of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) Mentorship and Career Development for early career researchers funded by the National Institute of Health, USA.
