Dr. Horstman is a Hospitalist-Investigator at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety (IQuESt) at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of Health Services Research at Baylor College of Medicine. As a hospitalist, her research interests are in improving the quality and safety of hospital care for older Veterans and their families. Dr. Horstman’s current research projects focus on developing and testing innovative strategies to enhance support for family caregivers of hospitalized Veterans living with dementia. She is the recipient of a VA-NIA Mentored Physician-Scientist Award in Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia.
