Dr. Wei (Helen) is currently working as a Professor in the Computer Science department of the School of Business at Stockton University. She has been a visiting professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University.
Before she joined Stockton, she spent five years in the Structural Analysis of Biomedical Ontologies Center (SABOC) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Her dissertation is under the direction of Dr. Yehoshua Perl, Dr. Michael Halper, and Dr. James Geller. During her Ph.D. studies, she was granted a pre-doctoral visiting fellowship at the National Institute of Health under the supervision of Dr. Olivier Bodenreider.
Dr. Wei's research interests include Ontologies, Medical Terminologies, Knowledge Representation, Data Mining, Data Analytics, and Natural Language Processing. Her Ph.D. research mainly focused on the SNOMED CT project, which was sponsored by the National Library of Medicine (NLM).
