Dr. Julia Burgdorf is a Research Scientist at the Center for Home Care Policy & Research at VNS Health. Dr. Burgdorf is a health services researcher who specializes in leveraging population-level linked claims, assessment, and survey data to examine the complex landscape of social and structural factors impacting home health care access and quality for older adults. She is especially interested in better understanding the role of family caregivers during home health care and is currently leading a series of externally-funded projects aimed at improving provider-led support for family caregivers assisting persons with dementia during home health care. Dr. Burgdorf was a National Institute on Aging Ruth L. Kirschstein postdoctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH). She received her PhD in Health Services Research from JHSPH in 2020 and continues to work closely with researchers in the Department of Health Policy & Management as a Faculty Associate.
