Originally from Zimbabwe, Rujeko “Rue” Machinga-Asaolu is a certified social worker based in Kentucky. With advanced degrees in Community Health Education, Social Work, and Couple and Family Therapy, she possesses extensive experience in community-based and school-linked programs, individual, couple, and family therapy, FlourishCare navigation, and behavioral health case management. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Social Work at the University of Kentucky, Rujeko’s research delves into maltreatment issues through intimate partner violence and highlights post-traumatic growth among IPV survivors. Recognized for her scholarly achievements, she has garnered multiple national and local prestigious academic fellowships and leadership awards, including the Doctoral Student Leadership Award from the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work. In her relentless pursuit of impactful social work education, equity, and justice, her commitment to holistic well-being across the lifespan is a personal mission.
