Mariana Alves do Nascimento, PhD, is an architect/urbanist and early-career researcher focused on promoting the connection between Architecture, Urban Planning and Gerontology in São Paulo, Brazil. In her PhD in Architecture and Urbanism (Mackenzie Presbyterian University, Brazil) she explored aging in place in the Brazilian context, proposing a comprehensive framework that intertwines various dimensions for policy and practice. Mariana holds a master's degree in Gerontology from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, and is a guest lecturer in the same Graduate Program. She is a member of the Frankfurt Forum for Interdisciplinary Aging Research (FFIA) and was a PhD researcher at the Interdisciplinary Aging Research Unit (IAW) at Goethe University, Germany. She also has background experience in digital marketing, community management, and consultancy in home adaptations for older adults. Her research interests are urban aging, aging in place, age-friendly cities and communities, environmental gerontology, housing, long-term care facilities, home adaptations, and care in the city.
