Dr. Jeannette R. Mahoney is an Associate Professor of Neurology and Associate Director of the Division of Cognitive and Motor Aging at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She obtained a Clinical Health PhD (with Neuropsychology minor) from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology (Bronx, NY) in 2008. Her research aims to investigate the behavioral, functional, and neuroanatomical correlates of sensory integration (mainly across visual and somatosensory inputs) in older adults. Further she is interested in the intersection of multisensory integration with specific cognitive (e.g., executive function, attention, and memory) and motor (e.g., balance, gait, falls) outcomes. Her research aims to determine whether optimizing visual-somatosensory integration could serve as a foundation of successful interventions that will reduce falls, improve mobility, and help maintain functional independence in older adults. Dr. Mahoney has also developed a first of kind quantitative falls screening digital health app called CatchU that she is currently trying to integrate into clinics.
