Barbara Mendez Campos, a current doctoral candidate and adjunct professor at Boston College, is an immigrant Latina scholar focused on the intersection of structural barriers, health disparities, and aging research. Barbara earned her master's degree in social work from the University of Michigan and graduated with certificates in Dementia Care and Addictions Counseling and has more than 5 years of practice experience as an independent licensed clinical social worker in various settings.
Barbara's commitment to research, teaching, and practice is evident through her involvement in significant projects focusing on LatinX and African American communities, leading data science and investigation using longitudinal panel data for a community-based agency serving dementia caregivers, and teaching graduate level Policy in Aging Societies addressing structural barriers for historically underrepresented communities. Her dedication lies in improving structural barriers embedded in systems and policies to promoto social justice and well-being of historically underrepresented communities, dementia caregivers, people with dementia, and older adults and their families.
