Dr. Nekehia T. Quashie is a sociologist and population health scholar. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at the University of Rhode Island. Broadly, her research addresses how social welfare policies and socioeconomic inequality shape families’ roles in social support, health, and well-being of older adults from a cross-national perspective. Some of her ongoing research examines topics of childlessness, partnership quality, living arrangements, and caregiving in relation to later life health and well-being. Dr. Quashie examines these topics primarily within and across global regions of Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, and Europe. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences, Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, and the and Regional Liaison for Latin America and the Caribbean with the Journal of Global Ageing. Dr. Quashie also leads the monthly co-writing groups of GSA’s Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization (ESPO).
