Christopher M. Kelly is Professor and Chair of the Department of Gerontology at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). He is a native of Omaha and received his B.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Kelly received his PhD in Gerontology from the University of Southern California Davis School of Gerontology and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute on Aging at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He is in his nineteenth year at UNO. Dr. Kelly’s research explores indicators of nursing home quality in the U.S. and in other nations such as volunteer programs, as well as innovative long-term care alternatives at the state and local levels. The latter efforts include his service as a member of the State of Nebraska’s Aging Task Force, the Governor of Nebraska's Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementias, and the Nebraska Mental Health and Aging Coalition. Dr. Kelly is also exploring efforts in the recruitment, training, and retention of direct care workers, particularly in assisted living and in home care.
