Nicholas Koufacos, LCSW, is a social worker at the VISN 2 Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) with specialized training and expertise in dementia care. He is a gradute of the Zelda Foster Palliative and End-of-Life Care Fellowship at the NYU Silver School of Social Work. He also completed an interdisciplinary fellowship at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. He completed the VA CALM mindfulness facilitator training and is trained in guided imagery. His work at the Department of Veterans Affairs centers on exploring and utlizing evidence-based approaches, including complimentary and integrative health modalities, to reduce stress and enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers. Nick is also a Professional Education Instructor for Smith College School of Social Work.
