Jonathan J. Suen, PhD, AuD, is a Research Associate at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is an interdisciplinary audiologist and gerontologist interested in promoting hearing health, healthy aging, and health equity in older populations. He has additional interests in addressing loneliness, social connections, and public health strategies using age-tech.
Suen’s role as core faculty at the Cochlear Center includes investigating community-based programs for increasing the accessibility of hearing care. He holds a clinical doctorate in audiology from Gallaudet University and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health where he co-developed a novel delivery model of hearing care through academic-community partnerships in Baltimore (HEARS). He trained in gerontology at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and earned his research doctorate from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing where he was inducted into the national Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society and the recipient of a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the National Institute on Aging (NIA/NIH).
