Daniel J. Buysse, MD, is Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry, Medicine, and Clinical and Translational Science and the UPMC Endowed Chair in Sleep Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His research focuses on the insomnia; multidimensional sleep health; behavioral interventions for sleep problems; and interactions between sleep and circadian rhythms. Dr. Buysse has received research funding from the National Institutes for Health (NIMH, NIA, NHLBI, NIDA, NCATS), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Veterans Administration, and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. He has published over 500 peer-reviewed papers and over 125 invited articles. Dr. Buysse is the Program Director of an NHLBI-funded sleep and circadian science T32 training program. Dr. Buysse is President of the Sleep Research Societyand Past President of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He has served as Deputy Editor of the journals SLEEP and Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, Associate Editor of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and Chair of the NIH MESH study section.
