Dr. Mace is a clinical health psychologist and an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Center for Health Outcomes and Interdisciplinary Research (CHOIR). His research combines mindfulness, lifestyle modifications, and digital health tools to dementia risk factors in diverse aging populations. His current research, supported by an NIA K23 Career Development Award, aims to refine and test the feasibility of “My Healthy Brain” to inform a larger efficacy trial. My Healthy Brain is a novel group mindfulness-based lifestyle program for older adults with early dementia risk factors. Dr. Mace’s collaborative research extends to multiple randomized controlled trials investigating integrative approaches for at-risk aging populations, including those with cognitive decline, chronic pain, depression, and those from underrepresented backgrounds. Dr. Mace has a strong presence in the academic community, including over 60 peer-reviewed articles, international and grand rounds presentations, and professional honors. In addition to research, Dr. Mace has extensive training in delivering evidence-based cognitive behavioral and mind-body treatments for adults across the health-illness spectrum. Dr. Mace’s long-term vision is to redefine brain health such that promoting healthy lifestyles and well-being to reduce dementia becomes a priority earlier in the lifespan.
