Summer is a Ph.D. Candidate at the School of Social Work, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She earned her MSW from New York University, and previously attained her BS in Psychology from Tsinghua University in China, with a minor in business management. Her practice experience involved non-profit management and medical social work. Summer Chen's research focuses on leveraging digital technology to improve health and well-being among the diverse aging population.
