Paul Laurienti completed his PhD in neuroscience in 1995 and his MD in 1999 at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a research fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and became an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology in 2002. He is currently a professor with tenure in the Department of Radiology. He is the Director of the Laboratory for Complex Brain Networks and leads an interdisciplinary group of scientists. They utilize functional brain imaging and network science methods to study the human brain as an integrated system. They have developed multiple methods to examine brain network organization and have used these methods in studies of eating behavior, obesity, weight loss, and physical function in older adults.
