Senior Research Scientist
The Ohio State University
Columbus, Ohio, United States
Kenneth J. Steinman is Senior Research Scientist in the Ohio State University's College of Education and Human Ecology where much of his work studies elder mistreatment and its intersection with health policy. His studies often employ administrative data from adult protective services (APS) to understand elder mistreatment and improve the systems that address it. Dr. Steinman's work also emphasizes collaboration among researchers and practitioners. He directs a project to strengthen quality assurance within Ohio's APS system, serves on (and co-founded) the Research Committee of the Ohio Elder Abuse Commission, and helps direct the APS Administrative Data Initiative (AADI) of the National Adult Protective Services Association (NAPSA) Research to Practice Interest Group. Dr. Steinman joined the inaugural cohort of fellows in the Mentorship Program of the National Collaboratory to Address Elder Mistreatment and is the 2024 recipient of NAPSA's Rosalie Wolf Award for Research on Elder Abuse. Another of his current projects examines how loneliness affects the health status and care utilization of Ohio's Medicaid population.
