Susan Krauss Whitbourne, Ph.D., ABPP, is Professor Emerita of Psychology at UMass Amherst and Faculty Fellow at UMass Boston Institute of Gerontology. Author of 180 refereed articles and book chapters and 20 books (many in multiple editions) including Adult Development and Aging: Biopsychosocial Perspectives (Wiley) and Abnormal Psychology: Clinical Persepctives (McGraw-Hill). She also has a popular PsychToday blog, Fulfillment at Any Age (118 million hits). Recipient of a 2011 APA Presidential Citation, she served in numerous leadership roles including Chair, GSA Behavioral and Social Sciences, President of the Eastern Psychological Association, Board Member of the Massachusetts Psychological Association, President of Division 20 APA, and on numerous APA Boards and Committees as well as APA Council Representative. Her research currently focuses on age inclusivity in higher education, and she is the Co-PI of RRF-funded research at UMass Boston. Additionally,, she has served as PI of the Rochester Adult Longitudinal Study, for which she currently serves as consultant. She is currently Chair-Elect of APA’s Committee on Aging and President of ABBP Geropsychology Specialty Board. Her teaching currently includes an undergraduate course on Mental Health and Aging. A frequent commentator in the national media, she has appeared on major news outlets, including NBC, CNN, ABC, the New York Times, and USA Today.
