Professor Anna Zisberg is the Chair of the PhD Program at the Cheryl Spencer Department of Nursing and the Director of the Center for Research and Study of Aging at the University of Haifa (UoH). She is a fellow at the American Academy of Nursing and the American Geriatrics Society. She completed her PhD in Nursing at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA.
Her research focuses on maintaining the function and quality of life of frail older adults and promoting an age-friendly healthcare system and society. Specifically, she explores mechanisms, including organizational structure and quality of care, that account for changes in functional and cognitive status in older adults during health challenges and hospitalization.
She leads a research group studying ACT-Friendly (Age, Culture, Technology Friendly Healthcare System) and the Age-Friendly University Haifa initiative. Professor Zisberg has published more than 70 articles in international geriatric and nursing journals and has presented her work at over 80 national and international conferences. She also serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals in gerontology.
