Associate Professor
Northern Kentucky University
Highland Heights, Kentucky, United States
Hello, my name is Allyson S. Graf. I earned my PhD from West Virginia University in Life-Span Development Psychology in May 2015. I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Science at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). My research interests broadly focus on healthy aging, including specific interests in late-life sexuality and attitudes towards health and aging. Current projects include extending the concept of sexual possible selves into later life and community-engaged work to better understand the needs of college student caregivers.
Student interest and involvement in aging is necessary as our society faces a shortage of qualified professionals in service to aging. I regularly involve 2-3 undergraduate students in my Healthy Aging Lab each semester to engage them in this important work. In 2020, our institution was recognized as the first Age-Friendly University in the state of Kentucky and I recently chaired our Age-Friendly University Coalition. I also serve on the executive board for the Safe Aging Coalition of Northern Kentucky and the editorial boards for the International Journal of Aging and Human Development and the Journal of Intergenerational Relationships.
I welcome opportunities for collaboration. Some of my best collaborative and mentoring relationships have emerged through networking at GSA.
I can be contacted at grafa1@nku.edu.
