Abhijit Visaria is a Principal Research Scientist at the Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE) at Duke-NUS. Abhijit’s research on ageing includes quantitative analysis of health expectancy, psychological resilience, social networks, loneliness, work and retirement, and use of digital technology by older persons. Abhijit is a Principal Investigator of ‘Ageing Well in the Urban Environment - Meeting the Health and Social Needs of Older Adults’, awarded as a Berlin University Alliance-National University of Singapore Global Health Exploration Project, and a Co-Principal Investigator of the NRF-funded Future Health Technologies project on ‘Early detection of health risks: Prevention of falls and fractures’. Abhijit was earlier a postdoctoral fellow at the Asia Research Institute jointly with the Centre for Family and Population Research at National University of Singapore. Abhijit’s professional background has included being a consultant with the World Bank during 2014-15, and working with the Social Initiatives Group, ICICI Bank, Mumbai from 2004 to 2008 on supporting state-civil society partnerships and developing resource centres on maternal and child health and elementary education, across India.Abhijit received his Ph.D. and M.A in Demography from the University of Pennsylvania.
