Mikiko is an Associate Professor at the School of Planning, and cross-appointed with the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie University, Canada. Mikiko’s research interests centre around methods of measuring various social and built environmental forces that create systematic inequalities in health and well-being among different groups of people across different places. Mikiko’s long-standing research area involves investigation of spatial accessibility to services necessary for the population of different ages and abilities to maintain health and well-being. Her current focus includes development of visual tools to connect lived knowledge and expertise of disability challenges in the built environment to planning and urban design practices.
