Dr. Hongmei Tong is an Associate Professor of the School of Social Work, MacEwan University, Canada. Her scholarly goals are to promote and facilitate healthy, and active aging, and to create inclusive and friendly communities for older Canadian. Her research is based upon a social determinants of health framework. She has volunteered with community agencies supporting vulnerable groups in Calgary and Edmonton. Her current program of research interests includes three streams: 1) social exclusion in later life; 2) culturally appropriate and innovative interventions to enhance psychological and social well-being of ethno-cultural minority older adults; 3) teaching pedagogy and learning in gerontological social work education. Her research is based upon a social determinants of health framework.
