Edward Alan Miller, PhD, MPA, is Professor and Chair, Department of Gerontology, and Fellow, Gerontology Institute, Manning College of Nursing and Health Sciences, University of Massachusetts Boston, and Adjunct Professor, Department of Health Services, Policy, and Practice, School of Public Health, Brown University. His research focuses on understanding the determinants and effects of federal and state policies affecting vulnerable populations, including older adults in need of long-term services and supports. Dr. Miller has 148 articles published or in press at peer reviewed journals. Recent books he organized and edited include: The COVID-19 Pandemic and Older Adults: Experiences, Impacts, and Innovations (2022), Older Adults and COVID-19: Implications for Aging Policy and Practice (2021), and Aging Policy & Politics in the Trump Era: Implications for Older Americans (2018). Dr. Miller is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Aging & Social Policy, and Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. He received his PhD in 2003 in political science and health services organization and policy from the University of Michigan, after which he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health at Yale University. He also holds an A.B. and M.P.A. from Cornell University and spent time in New Zealand as a Fulbright Scholar and Congressional Research Service as a social policy analyst. He was formerly an Assistant Professor at Brown University, where he is now an Adjunct Professor of Health Services, Policy, & Practice.
