Masumi Takeuchi is an adjunct researcher of the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute for Geriatrics and Gerontology. After studying social psychology at the University of Tokyo, she studied gerontology at Kobe University and received her Ph.D. in 2020 with a dissertation entitled "Ageism and adaptation on aging: a Social-psychological approach to prejudice against our future self." Her current research focuses on ageism, sexism, and Internet use among older adults. She has published articles on such topics as “Effects of workplace ageism on negative perception of aging and subjective well‐being of older adults according to gender and employment status” “A review of ageism research and its integration with aging research: from ageism to successful aging” and “Direct and indirect harassment experiences and burnout among academic faculty in Japan,” and made presentations such as "Differences in Internet use among Japanese older adults by gender and work experience during the COVID-19 epidemic" and "Factors hindering Internet use among older housewives in Japan: gender stereotypes and spousal dependence" at international conferences and symposia.
