Katherine Kitchens is a licensed master-level social worker (LMSW) with a concentration in community and administrative practice and a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work. Her practice experience involves working in a healthcare setting with communities that have experienced forced displacement and resttled in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She will defend her dissertation in December 2024, focusing on cognitive impairment among forcibly displaced populations. Her research focuses on culturally adapting
standardized instruments in partnership with these communities and culminates in co-creating aculturally adapted cognitive assessment tool with the Karen community in Dallas. Her research expertise involves leveraging national data sets and community-engaged methods to advance cognitive health equity for resettled communities that have experienced forced displacement.
