Prof. dr. Jan Hamers is a Professor of Care of Older People (since 2005) at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and visiting professor at the School of Health Care at University of Leeds in the UK (since 2017). In July 2024, he became the CEO of MeanderGroep, a Dutch health care organization (5.500 employees) providing long-term care to 20.000 clients annually.

Hamers is also the founder (1998) of the Limburg Living Lab in Ageing and Long-Term Care which is a successful and sustainable formal collaboration between 12 research, teaching and health care organizations providing long-term care, using team science, joint appointments and interdisciplinarity as core concepts.
