Dr. Bei Wu is the Vice Dean for Research and Dean's Professor in Global Health at NYU's Rory Meyers College of Nursing. With extensive expertise in large-scale data analysis and behavioral interventions, she co-leads two NIH-funded centers focused on Asian American health. She also serves as Principal Investigator for NIH-funded clinical trials aimed at improving health outcomes for Chinese and Korean dementia caregivers and enhancing oral health in individuals with mild dementia. In addition, Dr. Wu leads an NIH-funded R01 study investigating the links between oral health and dementia subtypes, with an emphasis on biological pathways and social determinants.
A globally recognized leader in gerontology, Dr. Wu has built a distinguished career through interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly in nursing and dentistry. She has authored nearly 400 peer-reviewed publications, with a focus on dementia caregiving, geriatric oral health, and cognitive impairment risk factors. Her work has earned her numerous honors, including fellowship in the Gerontological Society of America and the New York Academy of Medicine, as well as recognition as an honorary fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and an honorary member of Sigma Theta Tau International.
Dr. Wu’s accolades include the International Association for Dental Research's Distinguished Scientist Award for Geriatric Oral Research, the 2023 Maxwell A. Pollack Award for Contributions to Healthy Aging from the Gerontological Society of America, and the 2024 Public Service Award from the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR).
