I am a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan. I work under the mentorship of Dr. Laura Zahodne. I received my PhD in Aging Studies from the University of South Florida in 2023. My past education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Davidson College and a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Past research experiences include: primary data collection (behavioral and electrophysiological) from younger and older adults; working on a smartphone-based intervention arm of a randomized controlled trial targeting undergraduate drinking; and several secondary data analyses using the Health and Retirement Study, Midlife in the United States Study, the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center, the Czech Brain Aging Study, and the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative. Now, I primarily work with the Michigan Cognitive Aging Project (MCAP) and the Washington Heights Inwood Columbia Aging Project (WHICAP) which are ideal for studying racial disparities in cognitive and brain outcomes, potential mechanisms leading to these disparities, and resilience factors. My ultimate career goal is to be an independent researcher in a research-exclusive position studying multilevel bioecological mechanisms underlying racial and ethnic disparities in Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias (ADRD) across the life course and identifying ways to ameliorate them. I plan to engage in a research program that is balanced, considering both risk and resilience pathways that influence ADRD risk among minoritized older adults. By considering multiple bioecological levels, I will be able to provide recommendations at the individual level through the society level, addressing health disparities at the most relevant points of intervention. My hope is that through my research, I can provide novel insights regarding ADRD risk among minoritized older adults, highlighting effective points of intervention and policy changes that will promote health equity.
