Dr. Allen Glicksman serves as Embedded Scientist at NewCourtland and Adjunct Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. His primary areas of research is the point of contact between elder and the formal health and social service systems, especially among immigrants and persons with limited English proficiency. He has also conducted research on aging and religion, aging and trauma, as well as age-friendly efforts. In all these areas his focus is on understanding the interaction between older adult and formal systems in the context of those older adults seeking assistance and support. His work on religion and aging has focused on issues facing the Jewish community. Dr. Glicksman’s work has been funded by NIH and private foundations. He has been elected to Fellow status in the Gerontological Society of America and the Philadelphia College of Physicians and has won awards from NIH, the Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatrics Society, and the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
