Associate Professor
Washington State University
Pullman, Washington, United States
Dr. Raven H. Weaver is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development in the College of Agriculture, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences at Washington State University (WSU). She is co-director of WSU’s GATHER Lab (Generating Aging & Translational Health Equity Research). She is also a faculty member in WSU’s interdisciplinary Prevention Science doctoral program and an affiliate faculty in the School of Hospitality Business Management in the Carson College of Business and the Department of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, both at WSU. Dr. Weaver’s research centers around vulnerable and near-risk populations (e.g., older, low-income, rural-dwelling, insufficient care) and the adequacy of formal and informal long-term services and supports designed to promote health behaviors and deter adverse health outcomes in late life. Specifically, she is interested in the experiences of older adults living with unmet needs. As her research has a translational focus, she has established collaborative partnerships with community members and professional service providers, to provide data and recommendations that can better address care needs and health risks over time, helping community partners tailor and target their health services and supports. Lastly, her research and teaching aims to prepare a multidisciplinary geriatric workforce to enhance delivery of quality services and care for an increasing diverse aging population. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses related to adult development, gerontology, death and dying, and families in poverty.
