Elma Johnson is the Coordinator of the BOLD Public Health Center of Excellence on Dementia Caregiving (PHCOE-DC). In her role, she manages Center operations, oversees implementations of project activities and co-leads strategic and programmatic planning.
Elma is also outreach coordinator at the Center for Healthy Aging and Innovation, at the University of Minnesota, where she facilitates community engagement activities and supports collaboration with a range of community partners and members. Prior to PHCOE-DC, Elma worked in healthcare, first as a medical interpreter, and later as the supervisor of interpreter services and patient experience consultant at Hennepin Healthcare, a large safety-net serving the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. Elma has extensive experience serving linguistically- and culturally-diverse populations, and leading change and quality improvement projects in healthcare. Elma received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Oviedo in Spain, and her Master’s in Public Health and Administration and Policy at the University of Minnesota.
