Chris Phillipson is Emeritus Professor of Sociology and Social Gerontology at the University of Manchester, UK. He has led a number of research programmes in the field of ageing concerned with family and community life, social theory and ageing, and issues relating to urbanisation and migration. He is a former director of the Manchester Insttute for Collaborative Research into Ageing (MICRA). His most recent books are: COVID-19, Inequality and Older People: Everyday Life During the Pandemic (co-authored, Policy Press, 2023), and Ageing in Place in Urban Environments: Critical Perspectives (co-authored, Routledge, 2024). He is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.
