I am a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice and Palliative Care. I am a tenured Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) and hold the DSWOP Endowed Chair in Geriatrics and the UNT System Regents Professorship. I was the Principal Investigator for the Health Resource Service Administrations’ Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program from 2015-2024. I am the HSC Health Chief Medical Officer and, in this role, have the ability to support clinical research projects within the primary care (Center for Older Adults and Family Medicine) at UNTHSC. I most recently will be the Clinical Medical Director for the CMS GUIDE Program Demonstation Project to improve care for persons with dementia and to provide supportive services for caregivers. I have also worked with medical students as their clinical preceptor, lecturer and faculty research mentor over the past 30 years and have enjoyed providing support to the students involved in working within the clinics. I have also been involved in the training of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Resdients in Geriatrics and been a prior Program Director for a Geriatrics Fellowship for Physicians, Dentists and Behavioral Mental Health Professionals.
