The American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to support and advance healthy aging through biomedical research. AFAR offers a series of grant programs, supporting early and mid-career scientists, physicians, and medical students in the fields of aging research and geriatric medicine. In addition, AFAR manages three NIA-funded initiatives: the Research Centers Collaborative Network (RCCN), the Nathan Shock Centers Coordinating Center (NSC3) and the Clin-STAR Coordinating Center. The Clinician-Scientists Transdisciplinary Aging Research (Clin-STAR) Coordinating Center, with exhibit at GSA, provides a national platform for clinician scientists across specialties and disciplines focusing their careers on aging research. Initiatives include a database of aging researchers, aging research development and training awards, travel funds, webinars, interest groups, office hours, DEIA programs and resources.
